Things you must do in Angus & Dundee

Visit Glamis Castle
Glamis Castle is the ancestral home of the Earls of Strathmore, the childhood home of HM Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, and the setting for Shakespeare’s Macbeth. The castle has witnessed more than 600 years of history and there are many stories, secrets and intriguing tales that surround it!

Try a Smokie!
Take the time to visit the town of Arbroath, a town that dates back to the 12th century and lies 15 miles to the north-east of Dundee. The town’s most famous product is the Arbroath smokie - line-caught haddoch, smoke-cured over smouldering oak chips, and still made in a number of family-run smokehouses tucked in around the harbour. One of the most approachable and atmospheric is MM Spink’s tiny whitewashed premises at 10 Marketgate.

Hop aboard the HSS Discovery!
Follow in the footsteps of Captain Scott and Ernest Shackleton aboard the Royal Research Ship Discovery at the multi-award winning Discovery Point and experience one of the greatest stories ever told.
